WelleCo have just launched their #SuperElixirSwap, a challenge asking you to swap your daily sugary treat for The Super Elixir Nourishing Protein. I was thrilled to be asked to join other global participants and influencers leading the way, making up a team of 30. Recording our results on Instagram, you can search the hashtag for posts aplenty.
Beginning the task, I was sent a WelleCo bundle, including their Nourishing Protein and some other goodies. The dreaded afternoon slump seems to be my biggest nemesis, especially as that time can coincide with both school pick up and work commitments. Nourishing Protein is a totally natural plant-based supplement which is free from dairy, gluten, whey and eggs and is suitable for vegans too. Ensuring you feel fuller for longer, the powder is tasty and sugar-free to boot.
Already seriously limiting my sugar intake and avoiding gluten and dairy, I’ve decided to replace my dark chocolate daytime treat with a better one; this avocado and Nourishing Protein chocolate mousse.
Extremely easy to make, all you need are a couple of avocados, almond milk and The Super Elixir Nourishing Protein in any one of the Chocolate, Vanilla or Kids versions. Here is my recipe, for an amount which serves one adult a decent sized portion, or can be split into two dishes for the kids:
- Remove the flesh of two avocados and throw into a food processor or NutriBullet.
- Add a scoop of WelleCo Nourishing Protein and about a cup of almond milk (this amount depends on how thick you want the mousse to be, so play it by ear).
- Throw in extras like sunflower seeds, coconut flakes or cacao nibs.
- Blitz the mixture together until smooth.
- Pour out into a bowl, and add fruit to finish, such as tasty berries. Then either chill or eat straightaway.
This yummy mousse is my current fave dessert/snack/pick-me-up and showcases goodness galore. While we’re talking swaps, I’ve been making more of an effort to ditch my phone during time with the kids lately. So, the daily school run is now made up of at least one journey on foot, with only keys in my pockets (not forgetting ten tonnes of stuff to carry for the kids).
I feel lighter and energised (especially on the walk home minus mum luggage) for having this time to breathe first thing in the morning. And I get really sweet chat from the little ones that just doesn’t happen in a car. Combining this swap with my Super Elixir challenge, I’m very much enjoying spring so far. Obviously, swaps have to fit into your own life and what works for one person, is unfeasible for another. I just love the idea of making a positive adjustment to feel better and would urge you to swap something too.
