As a little girl, velvet dresses were always my favourite. It goes without saying that I’m very happy they are having a strong style moment this season, and was keen to add one to my party wear wardrobe. Precis kindly gifted me their absolutely divine Faith Lace Velvet Dress this week (priced at £119 and currently with 30% off on top).
The dress arrived beautifully boxed and wrapped up in layers of tissue paper. I did feel a lot like Carrie Bradshaw when Aleksandr Petrovsky (yes I had to Google the spelling…) presented her with that beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown. If you’re a SATC fan/obsessive like me, you’ll remember the scene, and even though I didn’t like his character, I was impressed by her getting a posh dress in a box. It always seemed supremely decadent. I may have even done a small squeal a la Carrie, when opening the box to reveal my new party dress.
This soft Precis number is a slinky dress comprising layers of velvet and a slip underneath, finished by lavish lace sleeves and a decorative neckline. I love the high neck and think its detail adds a certain classic charm. Plus, the length sits just above the knee. The dress is also ruched around the waist, which makes for a very flattering design feature.
For guidance, I’m wearing a size 8 here, and I’m 5 ft 6. The fabric is very comfortable and you could easily wear it out for a meal. I really hate restrictive garments, leaving you unable to eat or drink. Furthermore, the dress doesn’t travel up as you walk around or wear it: a definite added bonus.
I’m now massively excited for upcoming festive parties as I can’t wait to wear this stunning dress. And, if I may be so bold as to mention the C word, I think this will be my Christmas Day dress outfit too.
With a big thank you to Precis, who gifted me the beautiful Faith Lace Velvet Dress for the purpose of this review.
