Helly Hansen Summer Clothing Review

Following on from our Chatham his and hers outfit post, the Mr and I were also sent stylish Helly Hansen gear for review. I’ll take any excuse to rope my other half into some handsome clothing pics!

Timed perfectly for the burst of lovely summer weather recently, I chose the multi-coloured stripe Naiad Dress and Naiad T-Shirt in Navy (currently £27 and £18 in the sale). Featuring good quality fabrics and a flattering fit, I usually tend to shy away from bare legs, but this dress is the perfect length and style. A cotton and modal mix which is thick enough for our unpredictable UK climate, I’ve so far worn it with cropped jeans and on its own.

Helly Hansen generally specialise in outdoor clothing, such as waterproof jackets and weather-appropriate layers. There’s also a decent dose of nautical styles and Breton to be found, which is ideal for a stripe fan like me.

Mr B made the most of Helly Hansen’s coat and jacket collection, picking the HP 1/2 Zip Pullover in Racer Blue (£60), Crew Insulator Jacket in Navy (£130) and the HP Shore Jacket in Black (now £77 in the sale). As a family that spend a lot of time outside, these items fit into his wardrobe perfectly.

The pullover is made up of a double-knit polyester jersey, with quick dry fabric. Clever design features such as these protect against the elements, and the Mr wore this top on a beach fishing trip last weekend. That was a day the weather couldn’t quite decide what to do, so I wore my new dress over jeans and ended up stripping off halfway through the afternoon. Also, we’ve been eating fresh fish ever since, clearly some HH luck there…

Between the two jackets, the Mr has now got a lightweight and more padded outerwear option. I really love the neon detail against the black of the HP Shore Jacket. The Crew Insulator Jacket has insulator design, to shield against rain, wind or whatever whacky weather that may come our way on the Northumberland coast.

Every item is a winner, which we’ve already worn tons; roll on layering them up for the winter chill too. Which, let’s face it, could come anytime. But hopefully not for several months yet, as I’m looking forward to lots of sunny beach days over the holidays in my new nautical additions.
