Celebrating Honest Mum this Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day I want to make the celebration about those damn amazing mamas around us, not just our own mum and mum-in-laws, who are also undoubtedly precious.

We need to champion the mothers who continually inspire and empower us, supporting each other along the way. I’ve spoken before about my mama support network, the tribe who get me through those dreary motherhood days as well as the wonderful ones. Let’s be honest, we all have the tea times spent sobbing into our cuppa when no-one will eat, or those weeks which never seem to get better. And this is where the gang in the same shoes as us just bloody get it and empathise by the bucket-load. Inspiring us with their strength and determination, fellow mums are just fab.

One mum who never fails to do all of the above for me is my lovely friend Vicki AKA Honest Mum, who I recently spent a delish ‘Galentine’s’ lunch with for Valentine’s Day. (Vicki blogged about it, in case you fancy a peak on her blog Honestmum.com) Vicki is a strong, stylish, gorgeous, funny, fabulous and empowered mama who smashes it with her witty writing and brilliant mantra. Her blog is well worth book-marking, and she will make you laugh with those wonderful words and shed a tear of understanding when she documents the above dark days.

Vicki recently presented a piece for Sky Morning News about Imposter Syndrome and you absolutely have to check it out. Talking about the struggles us women face, and sharing her opinion on how we need to smash Imposter Syndrome out of the water, this piece demonstrates said empowering nature. Suffice it to say, I’m one extremely proud pal.

Providing tips on how to deal with stuff, and opening up about both the best and worst time as a mama and woman, has to be what we do in the motherhood support network. Something my fantastic friend not just underlines, but highlights and draws arrows all around too. So here’s to you, Vicki!

Come on then, which mums are you celebrating this Mother’s Day?
